Analysis of Low-grade Malignant Mucoepidermoid Bronchial Tumor: A Report of 5 CasesHongxu CAI, Pingping SONG, Baijiang ZHANGCorrespondence to: Baijing ZHANG, E-mail: zhbaijiang@sina.comDepartment of Thoracic Surgery, Shandong Tumor Hospital, Ji'nan 250000, ChinaAbstract Objective: To investigate the surgical treatment, clinical characteristics, diagnosis and prognosis of low-grade malig-nant mucoepidermoid bronchial tumor. Methods: Of the 10 cases reviewed, 5 underwent resection of low-grade malignant mucoepider-moid bronchial tumor, three cases underwent pulmonary lobectomy, one case underwent bronchial sleeve lobectomy with excision, andone case underwent wedge resection of the lung. The clinical characteristics, surgical treatment and prognosis were analyzed. Results:Based on the examination of the preoperative images, 5 cases were diagnosed as malignant, three cases underwent bronchoscopy andone case had mucinous cell carcinoma of the lung. Postoperative follow-up showed that the 1-, 3-, and 5-year survival rates were100%, 100% and 100%. Conclusion: Low-grade malignant mucoepidermoid bronchial tumor can be cured by radical surgery.Keywords Lung neoplasm; Mucoepidermoid tumor; Surgical treatment; Prognosis
